Lessie Baker, 86, of Bloomfield, CT beloved wife of the late Edward Baker, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in West Hartford, CT. She was born in Midway, FL to the late Henry and Rebecca (Palmer) Walker, and she has lived in New York and California, but she made Bloomfield, CT her home since 1999. She was a member of the Sanctuary of Faith & Glory Church in Windsor, CT where she served on the Mother’s Board. She was a past member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Riverside, CA where she served as the Pastor’s aide president, the Women’s Ministry President, and the Valley District Association Women’s Ministry President, which is an association of eleven churches. She was also a past member of the Greater Joy Mission Church of Deliverance in Hartford, CT where she served on the Mother’s Board. Lessie was talented at creative writing and could always be counted on to make a program come together. She was a courteous and proper lady who encouraged young and old alike to walk in their calling. Lessie is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, William Ford of Moreno Valley, CA, Kenneth and Debbie Ford of Manchester, CT, Edward Baker Jr., Richard Baker, and Bernard Baker all of Dover, DE; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lessie and Leroy Wilson of Windsor, CT, Celestine and Robert Hales of Bloomfield, CT, Yvonne Lee of Moreno Valley, CA, and Sonja Baker of Dover, DE; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Edward Mack of Palm Bay, FL and Carrie Walker of Mulberry, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Hezekiah Ford, her daughter Rita Martin, and her brothers Walter Sr, Wilmer, and Horace Walker. A funeral service will be held on November 14 at 11 AM at the Sanctuary of Faith & Glory, 752 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor followed by burial in Mt. View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
