Waterford - Stewart C. Clark, age 69, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in New London, he was the son of the late Ralph Clark and Jeanne (Chalmers) Clark. Stew graduated from Waterford High School in 1965. He worked as a production manager with the Coca Cola Bottling Company in New London from 1966 through 1975, at which time he was hired by the Waterford Police Department. He was promoted to Detective in 1981. He was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 1995. He retired in 2000, after 25 years of dedicated service. Stew also owned and operated Capitol Uniforms from 1976 to 1991. In 1995, he received his master's degree from the University of New Haven. He was a member of the Harvard Associates in Police Science and the New London County Detective Association. He was also a life member of the Goshen Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Ann (Pinch) Clark. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Peter Clark (Jennifer Sobiech) of Waterford, Scott Johnson (Deborah Ott) of Plainfield; step-sons, Thomas Dedrick of Waterford, James Dedrick (Paula Rouisse) of Quaker Hill; a brother, Charles Clark of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Priscilla Peabody of New London; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Clark and a step-daughter, Lisa Dedrick. Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. Funeral Home Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, with entombment to follow in St. Mary Mausoleum, Jefferson Avenue, New London.
