Ross Gordon Burwood, 76, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Sharon (Fitzpatrick) Burwood, died unexpectedly at home on January 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Ross was born in Hartford on July 11, 1941 to the late Lloyd and Estelle (Sellwood) Burwood. Ross and Sharon were married on May 19, 1962 and raised their family in East Hartford for the last 50 years. Ross was a faithful member of the Glastonbury Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ross had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge leading to an Associate’s Degree from MCC; he appreciated the teachings of Gandhi and enjoyed doing crosswords and Sudoku. He was always there for anyone who needed help; he was hardworking, determined, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed watching shows like Sanford and Son and All in the Family. Ross collected pocket watches and was a member of the NRA. Ross is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Burwood; their children, Andy Burwood, of East Hartford, Steven Burwood and his wife Sylvia of Belgium, Bruce Burwood, of East Hartford, Lisa Fowler and her husband Jarod, of Newington; his brother Roger Burwood and wife Pat, of Unionville; sister Rita Frechette, of Bristol; grandchildren, Joseph, Denys, Andy, and Gael; great grandchildren Aurora, Autumn, and Archer. Aside from his parents, Ross was predeceased by his brother Robert Burwood. Funeral Services are being held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the L.D.S Church building located at 30 Woodside Street, Manchester, CT at 11 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9:30 - 11 AM. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
