Paula Smith Gentilozzi (Rotondo), of Tolland, passed away suddenly, on Feb. 4, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Newark, NJ. She graduated from Barringer High School and was a Barbizon Model. Paula was married in 1960 and lived in Plainfield, New Jersey before she moved with her family in 1970 to Tolland, CT, where she taught CCD at St. Matthew’s Church and coached cheerleading for 10 years. She was a huge fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants and a true Jersey girl at heart. She was the loving mother of Jimmy Smith, Sondra Smith Reid, Dana Foster (Lance), Shaun Smith, and Glenn Smith. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Rotondo; niece, Stephanie Tilton (John); great nephews and niece, Anthony, Travis, and Taylor Tilton. But, the true light of her life were her grandchildren, Dustin and Trevor Foster, Melissa Grace (Eric), Catherine and Dannielle Reid, Mitchell Foster, Kristi and Brooke Smith, Luke and Wyatt Smith, and the late Ryan Andrews; along with her great grandson, Noah Grace. Aside from her parents, Paula was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Rotondo; brother, Anthony Rotondo; husbands, James C. Smith and Stephen J. Gentilozzi. Calling hours are being held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, (Route 83) Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, February 8, 2018 directly at St. Matthews Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland CT. interment will follow at South Cemetery in Tolland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paula’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
