Nora Vogel of 52 Brian Dr., Trumbull, passed away peacefully at home on 11/8/2017.She was 94 yrs. old, of which she spent 67 years with her forever love, Gilbert Vogel.
Originally from The Netherlands, Nora and Gil immigrated to the USA in Nov of 1956 with their two daughters.
Nora and Gil were inseparable. Everything they did was done together-hiking, tennis, sailing their little sunfish sailboat, walking along St Mary's by the Sea. The ocean was their haven and as they aged they visited St Mary's more and more often, sitting in the sea breeze. Theirs was a special togetherness rarely seen. They were still holding hands on their 67th wedding anniversary.
Maybe because of their love of fitness, active sports and a "Prevention Magazine" diet, they were blessed with good health, remaining active into their 90's.
In their middle years, Nora worked in the Yale University library as an assistant. Gil worked as the Technical Director of the Division of Science at Yale.
In her later years, Nora was cared for in her home by her daughter Nancy Gost. Her other daughter, Edith made frequent trips up from NC. As her needs increased she had wonderful 24 hr caregivers who loved her and became family. We thank Sharon Craddock, Liz Fletcher and Sylvia Harris for their patient, loving care that allowed Mom to remain in her home.
We will so miss the strong, stubborn, humorous woman who was our beloved mother and grandmother but are comforted knowing she went to sleep and awakened with her Gil.
Nora leaves behind her two daughters, Nancy N.Gost of Bridgeport and Edith L Deese of Dobson, NC and their respective husband-Robert Gost and Raymond Deese. She leaves her three grandsons-Carlo M DeAngelus and wife Ramona of Morganton, NC, Jason R.Gost of Menasha, Wisconsin and Marco V.DeAngelus of Buekburnett ,Texas. She also leaves behind great grand granddaughters, Angelina DeAngelus of Ashville,NC; and Elsie DeAngelus of Wichita Falls, TX.,a step great granddaughter, Kristin Hess and great-great step grandson Shiloh Hess both of Old Fort NC.
Nora will be joyfully remembered by all. November will always be a special month for us. To leave an online condolence please visit
