Jeannine Lundin Wierzbinski, 85, widow of Dr. Joseph "Buzz" Wierzbinski, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Woods in North Branford, CT on December 31, 2017. She was a long time resident of Madison, CT.

Jeannine graduated from nursing school with an RN at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the head nurse in the hospital's intensive care unit. It was there, at Deaconess, that she met her husband, Joseph, who was then a surgical resident. Later, when he was sent to serve in Korea, she went, too, serving as head nurse at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH).

After the war, Jeannine worked at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. She served at a pediatric hospital at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Jeannine also worked in home-care, hospice and private nursing. She retired as a nurse for SARAH in Madison, CT. She put aside her nursing cap after 45 years in white. Her motto for all those years was simply, "giving".

Jeannine enjoyed hiking and spending many sunny summer days with friends on the Madison Beach. She and Buzz were active members of the Madison Winter Club, where one was never sure what type of shenanigans she was up to. They both loved to explore and experienced numerous adventures during their world travels.

Mrs. Wierzbinski is survived by her nephew Ragnar Maddox, his son, Sebastian, her nieces Lara Maddox and Jeannine Baibak, cousins Marilyn and Giles OKeeffe, and Jennifer OKeeffe.

A special thank you to Katie for her loving care of both Buzz and Jeannine for many years.

Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Swan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangement. To sign the online guest book please visit
