James C. Chafin Jr. entered into eternal peace on Mother's Day, May 14, 2017 at the age of 85 surrounded by his devoted family, along with his Pastor, Reverend Colbert Sesanker and wife Ena. James was a member of Faith Assembly of God where he served as deacon, praise and worship leader and assisted in many other duties within the church. James was born in Hartford, CT and graduated from high school in Delaware. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He was a resident of Bloomfield for over 50 years and retired from the Hartford Fire Insurance Company after 37 years. He was an avid NY Yankees fan who enjoyed going to hockey games and concerts with his children and for his grandchildren. In his later years along with sports, he enjoyed time with his family, watching the Price is Right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bloomfield Ambulance Association, Bloomfield Healthcare Center, ProHealth Physicians, and St. Francis Hospital and Hospice Care for their compassionate care of James. James leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 58 years, Susan of Bloomfield and children Pamela Chafin of Bloomfield; Lori Chafin of Bradenton, FL; James C. Chafin III of Honolulu, HI, Lisa Rochester and husband Anthony of Bloomfield; his grandchildren; Brooke, LisaMarie, Jacob, Chin and Emily; his great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Charlize and Kelis; brother Saul Chafin and wife Katy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James C. Chafin Sr., and Edith and Rufus Peterson; sisters, Sylvia Burr, Charlotte Tappin, Judith A. Walker and brother Donald T. Chafin. A memorial home-going celebration will be held at 11AM Friday, May 19 at Faith Assembly of God, 846 Prospect Avenue, Hartford. Burial will be private at Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield. His family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10AM to 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of James C.
