Ivy May (Brooks) Dwyer, 97, beloved wife of the late David Dwyer, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Born in St. Elizabeth Jamaica, daughter of the late David and Caroline (Thomas) Brooks, she lived in London, England, then later moved to Bloomfield. She was employed at Hartford Hospital many years before retiring. She leaves four sons Winston Dwyer (Linda), Eugene Dwyer (Dorothy), Cecil and Byron Broomfield; five daughters Lorna Gawlik (Piotr), Marilyn Juras (Emil), and Joan, Olive, and Beverly Dwyer; 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two sons, Joscelyn Pratt and Eric Dwyer, three brothers and five sisters. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 11 am at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 590 Bloomfield Avenue, Bloomfield. The Rev. Canon Wilbourne A. Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders. The Carmon Windsor Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
