Harry Bennett Maple, 87, died peacefully Saturday, December 2, 2017 at home in Madison, CT with his wife of sixty-four years, Bonnell (Koerner) Maple by his side.

Born November 23, 1930 in Elizabeth, PA, Harry was the proud and loving son of the late Harry and Hazel (Bennett) Maple. He grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania, graduating from Mapletown High School in 1949. Harry attended California University of Pennsylvania before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1952. After serving his Country, he began his career at Corning Glass in Charleroi, PA, while attending the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.

He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963, quickly rose to senior management positions and relocated to Connecticut in 1967 to build and manage multiple plant manufacturing operations. In 1972 Harry joined Atlantic Wire Company, Branford, CT where he ultimately served as President until 1980. In the ensuing decade, he became joint owner of Harrison & Ellis, Cairo, GA and Great Lakes Wire of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. In the final phase of his career, Harry was an engineering management consultant until his retirement in 2011, serving the Monongahela Valley area where he engineered and renovated commercial and industrial properties impacted by economic decline.

Although a New England resident for 50 years, Harry was proud of his Western Pennsylvania heritage. This included designing and building his own home with his father in Rostraver Township of the Belle Vernon area in 1957-1959 to helping his children's school projects, scouting, college applications, home repairs or grandchildren's construction projects.
