Florence Vulcano of Danbury passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017. She was the wife of the late James J. Vulcano, Sr.

Florence was born in Danbury on November 7, 1926 to Thomas and Delia (Mahr) Ginty. She was a graduate of Danbury High School. Florence worked at Western Union for many years, was a devoted and active member of St. Peter Church and volunteered for numerous organizations including the American Cancer Society.

Florence was married to her loving husband, Jim Vulcano Sr. for 64 years. She is survived by her daughter Brenda and her husband Al (Farrah) of Danbury, Diane Vulcano of Bridgeport, Mary Vulcano and her partner Shawn Hurta of Southbury, and her son Jim and his wife Karen of Brookfield. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Douglas Farrah, Emily, Rebecca and Stephen Vulcano; sister-in-laws: Helen Vulcano of Ridgefield, Connecticut and Betty Vulcano of West Palm Beach, Florida along with several nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her husband Jim, her parents, her brothers James, Bernie, Vincent and John Ginty and her sister Mary Butler.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Alzheimer's unit staff at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Ridgefield for their wonderful care.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, December 8th at St. Peter Church, Danbury, with the Rev. Gregg Mecca, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9am-10am on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
