Evelyn May (Rechenberg) Anderson, 96, of Windsor Locks and formerly of Windsor, wife of the late Arthur Anderson, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017 with her family at her side. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Otto and Mathilde (Gerber) Rechenberg, she grew up and lived in New Britain and Windsor before moving to Windsor Locks in 1990. She was a longtime devoted member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Windsor. While Evelyn was working at the Windsor Social Services, she helped to implement a program for seniors in nursing homes called Breaking Through to the Aged. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and worked in a local soup kitchen. Evelyn was a member of the Cameo Club in Windsor, and she enjoyed participating in talent shows, performing in plays, and entertaining as a clown. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Darryl Anderson of Buzzards Bay, MA, and Bruce Anderson and his wife Deborah of Westbrook; four grandchildren, Matt Anderson, and Marc Anderson and his wife Jess, Ingrid Littlejohn and her husband Michael, and Allegra Anderson and her fiancé Steven Zakrzewski; four great grandchildren, Olivia and Xavier Littlejohn, and Trevor and Gracie Lee Anderson; her longtime companion, Robert "Bob" Callanan; her adopted family, Gordon and Debbie Wild of Windsor and their sons, Steven and Kevin; her god children, Charlene Schleicher, and Brian Pawlow, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Otto Rechenberg, and three sisters, Arline Holcomb, Helen Sheldon, and Frieda DesMarais. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 465 Park Avenue, Windsor.
