Donald A. Riehl, 84, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his two sons on May 13, 2017. He was born in New York, New York, a son of the late Francis and Hedwig (Fetterroll) Riehl. He was a manager at Grumman Aerospace Corporation where he was employed for 30 years and prior to that he worked at Republic Aviation Corporation, both on Long Island, NY. He was a graduate of Hofstra College class of 1964. Donald was a United States Army Veteran and faithfully served his country during the Korean War from January 1952-January of 1954. He attained the rank of Corporal, and served in Korea for 1 year with the 224th US Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, 2 Bronze Service Stars and the National Defense Service Medal. He is survived by his two sons, William Riehl of Orford, NH, John Riehl and his wife Sandra of Hebron, and four grandchildren; Jill Henry and her husband Dave of Los Angeles, CA., Al Riehl and his wife Jill of Chesapeake, VA., Peter and Mike Riehl, both of Hebron. Graveside services and burial, with military honors will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:30pm, at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY. There are no visiting hours.
