East Lyme - Anthony A. Munoz, 73, of Niantic, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born June 13, 1944 in New York City, N.Y. Mr. Munoz was a police officer with the town of Waterford for 28 years, retiring in 2000 with the rank of lieutenant. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, scuba diving, camping and sailing. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy A. (Vertefeuille) Munoz; and their two daughters, Cynthia Munoz of Waterford and Barbara Ranaudo of Waterbury; a brother, Robert Munoz of Florida; two sisters, Aurora Schallhorn and Mary Munoz both of New York; and one granddaughter, Sarah Ranaudo. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Interment is private. Donations in his memory may be made to the CT Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06357.
