Tribute & Message From The Family

Andre J. "Andy" Lefebvre, 83, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of 62 years to Florence (Gillette) Lefebvre, passed away as a result of surgical complications on March 5, 2018. He was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec in Canada on January 2, 1935, son of the late Leopold and Juliette (Berthiaume) Lefebvre, and came to the United States as a small child. He grew up in the Elmwood neighborhood of West Hartford and graduated from William H. Hall High School. Andy later received his associate's degree in criminal justice and graduated from the State Police Academy in Bethany, CT. He enjoyed his career in law enforcement and retired in 1985 as a Lieutenant with the Bloomfield Police Department. Andy's caring nature extended beyond law enforcement as he volunteered as a firefighter with the Blue Hills Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Andy was known as a dependable helper to anyone and everyone-family, friend, or stranger. He was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Windsor and attended mass at St. Gabriel Church. Andy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family above all else and cherished summers spent with them at his home in Vermont. In addition to his wife, Florence Lefebvre, he leaves his children, Elizabeth "Ann" Tardif, Michael Lefebvre, James Lefebvre, and Cynthia M. Forader; seven grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Tardif, James Tardif (Ashley), Michael Lefebvre, Jr. (Pam), Christen Alves (Joao), Andrew Lefebvre (Elizabeth), Jessica Pozzato (Vincent), Merrick Forader, Jr. (Ariel); three great-grandchildren, Victoria and Kevin Tardif and Amalia Alves as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his two siblings and son-in-law, Merrick Forader. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9:00 am at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor with burial following in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. In lieu of flowers, friends may honor Andy's memory by making a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Springfield, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104.

Dear Florence and family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. Andy (and Florence) were very dear friends to my parents (Lily & Joe) and I know they always appreciated your kindnesses and friendship. I regret that I can't attend Andy's service but you are all in our thoughts.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Florence and the Lefebvre family. Andy was an exemplary man, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and citizen. He was always available to help with a project, offer guidance and advice or just sit around and enjoy conversation or a good discussion. Our last visit with Andy was on July 27, 2017. Andy was so proud and honored to pin his grandson, Merrick Jr., during his graduation ceremony from the Police Academy. Of course, after graduation, Andy made sure the tables were set up, trays of food were put out, and everyone was made to feel welcomed and comfortable. Andy certainly believed, loved and lived his faith. Rest in peace Andy. We are sure you will be managing the gates of Heaven when your family and friends arrive. Our condolences, The Forader Family, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire

Mrs. Lefebvre,
I would like to extend my condolences to you and your loving family. Mr. Lefebvre Will be greatly missed. He was like my Dad's brother from another mother. He was always willing to lend a hand to my dad as the two of them enjoyed each other's company and both of them always had an idea about how to fix whatever was broken ... I loved to see the two of them together. I have those memories and I know you and the rest of the family have many too. Love,Vera Lembrick

If ever there was a life well lived, this epitomizes Andy; from his faith to his dear family, his longstanding service to the community, fellow man, and every life he touched. He well surpassed what most people would do to help.
He was as dear to me as a father would be, and I can't seem to stop crying...
Some people have such presence that it's unimaginable no longer having them in your life.
I know Andy would be telling a whole list of his stories about the jokes and pranks he's pulled if he could right now. All I can say is that this is gonna be a hard one.....
Love to you Florence, his wonderful,
beloved kids, grandkids and family.
LOVE YOU ALWAYS ANDY.
