Tribute & Message From The Family

MACDONALD. Mary E. MacDonald, 95, of Suffield, beloved wife for 49 years of the late Richard A. MacDonald, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born June 16, 1922 in LeMars, Iowa, daughter of the late Carl and Lillian (Schaffer) Petry. She lived in Windsor before moving to Suffield 35 years ago. She was a member of the Suffield Country Club for many years where she enjoyed playing many rounds of golf and parties with Dick. Mary was also a member of the Windsor Women’s Club while living in Windsor. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and neighbors, she loved to travel, her favorite place to visit was Jamaica, but most of all she loved spending time with her daughters, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary is survived by her three daughters, Karen DeNino of Broad Brook, Diane Johnson and her husband, Ronald of Brentwood, NH, Suzanne Bennett of Suffield; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Michele Heidenberger; a brother, Donald Petry; three sisters, Margery Luschen, Dorothy Dunker, Shirley Bell. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sharon Sylva, their mothers devoted caregiver. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 11 AM - 12 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock section of Windsor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St - I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Ste 4B, Southington, CT 06489-1058.

So sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She and Dick were a great couple. Remember good times at Suffield Country Club. She was always kind to my dad joe lumbruno. Great group of people on strathmore Lane. She will be missed. Warm regards. Ann and Dick monighetti
