Tribute & Message From The Family

Jan (John) Soj, 91, longtime resident of New Britain, died peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was born in Poland and immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1951. Jan worked at the Fafnir Bearing Co. as a machinist and retired after many years of service. During his 35 years of retirement, he was an avid outdoorsman and an expert archer who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also appreciated the beauty of nature while on hikes around the West Hartford Reservoir. A proud moment for Jan was completing the climb up to Mount Washington. However, his proudest accomplishment was his family. Jan is survived by his sons: Richard Soj and wife, Linda and Edward Soj and friend, Lisa Dombrowski; his granddaughter, Brittany Karchner and husband, Benjamin; siblings and family in Poland. He was predeceased by his wife, Stasia Soj.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.
