Condolence & Memory Journal

Our thoughts and prayers to the Porto family. Filling up the gas tank and enjoying a conversation about a UCONN game or the Yankees was all part of the visit. A nudge on the shoulder and Have a Sparkling Day was the send off! Will me him so much.

Ray was a beautiful human being. He was one of the people who made Wallingford such a wonderful town in which to live. Our heartfelt condolences to the Porto Family on behalf of the entire Pascale Family. May Ray Rest In Peace. Bob Morin

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Ray. A one of kind person God put on this earth to make every person he came in contact go away smiling and feeling good.

That's what he did for me. Getting gas there was more to see Ray then the gas.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dave, Don and the Porto family.

God has another Angel in heaven. He will be missed here on earth.

God bless...

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Porto family. He will be our "Ray of Sunshine" forever in our hearts. I will always remember Taylor and Tre asking me to get gas where the man like Grandpa works - he was in their eyes another Grandpa to them and for that matter - to all that met him, Love to you all, Jen, Ed, and Tre Short

I enjoyed listening to Ray tell stories like how customers would gather at the station on Tuesday nights to watch the Milton Berle show. When my kids were little, he'd peek in the car window to see how many lollipops to bring back out. And, of course, they remember him telling us to "have a sparkling day." It must have meant a lot to him to work alongside his sons and grandson for so many years. Such a wonderful life, but still very sad when it comes time to say goodbye. Deepest sympathies to the entire Porto family on the loss of the kindest man any of us ever met.

The rest of the world could take a lesson from the life of Ray.
If you had a bad day, just seeing him could fix that fast. A truly great man.

What more can be said of Ray. It seems we all feel the same about him.
I've been going to him for many years as I have arthritis in my hands and he would pump for me and he also had arthritis in his hands. He was one in a million and sure wish there were more people like him.
Sorry to his family.

To the Porto Family , please except our deepest condolences on your loss. Ray was an outstanding Gentleman , I remember , being fortunate enough to be invited to celebrate his 50 years as a Texaco Gas Station , owner and operator, as a along time Customer .The only gas station, that you didn't have to pump your own gas!He always had a smile and so extremely professional and polite . I remember talking to him in Lowe's ,about 5 years ago, when asked I if he was looking for something ,and could I help him he said no , just walking around to get exercise. We talked for a few minutes and then I went back to work . He will be truly missed , someone , who epitomized , the true meaning of outstanding Customer Service , and that Hometown , all around feeling of making you feel good about stopping in! If we were still in Connecticut , we would have been honored to go to his Funeral. May God shine his eternal light upon him ! Karen & Hank Kowalski
