Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend

Edmund F. Reiss, 89, of Newington, died on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Emily (Jesionka) Reiss for 66 years. Born in New Britain, he moved to Newington in 1966. Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Dr. Greg Reiss and his wife Kay of Newington; his daughter, Gail Petrella and her husband Brad of Avon Lake, OH; his grandchildren, Alex and Maggie Reiss and Nicholas Petrella, as well as several nieces and nephews. He served as a Special Agent, U.S. Army Intelligence in the Philippines. A graduate of the University of Hartford, he was employed in the Hardware Division of Stanley Works as a Product Design Engineer, Product Manager and Technical Sales Consultant. He received 10 U.S. patents and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of the National Door and Hardware Institute and an Architectural Hardware Consultant. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his sister Dorothea Rembisz. His funeral service will begin on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 10:45 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church, Newington. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation
