Tribute & Message From The Family

Lawrence Peer Flynn, 71, of Storrs, CT died on November 6, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He was born on March 18, 1946 in Springfield, MA the son of the late Dr. Herbert L. and Elizabeth (Peer) Flynn. He grew up in Mansfield, CT where he formed many lifelong friendships. Lawrence graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served as a Lieutenant in the 20th Engineer Battalion in 1970. Lawrence was a graduate of the Yale University Physician Associate Program in 1976 and worked for over 30 years as a surgical P.A. primarily at Mount Sinai and St. Francis hospitals in Hartford, CT. Lawrence was a well-read, engaging individual who enjoyed bantering with family and friends on a wide variety of subjects. His dry sense of humor and clever responses will be sorely missed. Lawrence was an active, enthusiastic alpine skier and bicyclist, completing numerous century rides until sidelined by ill health towards the end of his life. He enjoyed many summers at the family vacation home hiking, boating and swimming with his girls and the family dogs on Moosehead Lake in Maine. Most of all, Lawrence loved his family. Having started a family relatively late in life, Lawrence was especially grateful for the presence of “Flynn Women” in his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy (Lackman) Flynn; and their three daughters, Erin Flynn and husband Shawn Garran of Marlborough, MA; Laura Flynn and husband Ryan Hehner of St. Louis, MO; Clare Flynn and her boyfriend Jesse Guerrero of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Emmeline and Adele Garran; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Carole D’Auteuil of Jupiter, FL. The Flynn family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 pm on November 12, 2017, at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, 46 North Eagleville Rd, Storrs, CT. on November 13, 2017 at 10 am. The burial will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fisher House Foundation, www.fisherhouse.org or Heifer International, www.heifer.org For online condolences and guestbook please visit www.CarmonFuneralHome.com
