Tribute & Message From The Family

Jaime C. Raposo, 71, of Newington, died peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 after a long illness. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal to the late Jose and Balbina (Costa) Raposo, he settled in Connecticut in 1972 with his new bride, Maria (Sousa) Raposo and together they raised their family. Jaime was employed as a machinist at Jacobs Mfg. for many years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford and member of the Portuguese Club of Hartford. He enjoyed watching soccer matches and was a superb vintner making his own wine. Above all, Jaime loved his family and spending time with them. In addition to Maria, his wife of 46 years, he leaves his son, Nelson Raposo and his daughters: Anabela Raposo-Andrade and her husband, Duarte (Nuno) and Cristina Raposo; his adored grandsons Justin and Dylan Andrade; his sisters: Madelina Rego and her husband Manuel, Maria Ana Chora and her husband Guilhermo and Clotilde Pimentel and her husband Horacio; his sisters-in-law Zenalia and Mickie Raposo; his brother-in-law Tony Sousa and numerous nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and in Portugal. Jaime was predeceased by his brothers: Jose Antonio, Joao and Gil Raposo and his sister, Fernanda Sousa.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Jaime will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford immediately following the Mass.
