Tribute & Message From The Family

Geraldine (Celestina) Antoinette Patti, aged 86, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Gerri was born in Hartford, Connecticut where she lived until moving to Newington in the mid 1990s. She attended trade school in Hartford where she learned to be a seamstress, and later worked for 57 years at Aetna Life Insurance Company. Gerri was a member of the Aetna Women's Club, and was also a four-term president of St. Augustine's Rosary Society. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hartford, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and where she was a former president of both the Social Club and Ladies' Guild, in which she remained an active member. Gerri was a member of the Newington Ladies Democratic Club and the Ladies Democratic Club of Hartford, and former state and local president of the Catholic Ladies of Columbus and she was a longtime volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. She is survived by her beloved nieces, Donna Fournier of Enfield and Roberta LaMonaca and her husband, Paul of Windsor, and grand-nieces Katherine LaMonaca and Sarah LaMonaca. She will be missed by lifelong friend, Yolanda Rossi and her dear friends Jack and Helen Martins, Wethersfield. Gerri was predeceased by her parents, Orazio and Maria (Locascio) Patti, her brother, Frank and his wife Frances, and brother Angelo and his wife Doris, as well as her nieces’ husband, Joe Fournier, all of whom she loved dearly. Gerri was able to live independently in her later years with the support of the staff at Cedar Mountain Commons in Newington. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care she received in her final days at the Hebrew HealthCare Hospital in West Hartford. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 9-10 AM at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at church. Condolence & Memory Journal

To the family and friends of Geraldine:

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember Geraldine fondly while I was growing up. She was friends with my Aunt Vinnie Russo. Fun times with Sue Rossi, Yolanda Rossi and others. More recently I remember Geraldine always helping out at St Patrick-St Anthony's Hospitality Committee serving donuts/coffee. She was a lovely lady. God Bless

Craig and I send you our heartfelt condolences. We know how close you all were to Aunt Geraldine. I'll think of her each time I go into my guest room and look at the beautiful drapes she made for me.

Gerri was an incredible woman and I was honored to have her as part of the team at the St Francis Hospital clinics during her volunteer years.

Dear Friends,

I deeply regret Geraldine's passing, and that I shall be unable to attend the wake and funeral at St. Patrick/St. Anthony. I am committed to taking a 25-year old former student to his chemo/radiation treatment in Waterbury tomorrow (Wednesday); he has no family and is financially troubled too, as well as suffering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

I have the fondest memories of Geraldine and my godmother and godfather Frances and Frank when my mother and I used to visit. We were really all like family then, together with the Pezzolos--especially Comare Mary, Anthony and Lucille. Time is like a swift current carrying us in different directions, but the memories are treasures.

Geraldine was a strong and warm person; I'll always remember her and you all.

Affectionately,
Paul LaRocca
